A CUP OF YARN
I am Elmarie. I am an Indie dyer who lives in Worcester, Western Cape. I will be bringing my hand dyed wool (merino’s and blends, but all natural fibres), hand dyed cotton, hand spun/ hand dyed merino yarn, unspun fibre and project bags, as well as African Expressions yarn to the Cape Town Yarn Festival.

ADELE’S MOHAIR
Standard brushed and boucle mohair, a selection of the lace weight yarns mohair in both boucle and brushed, some self striping yarns, a mohair and linen mix, a mohair and bamboo mix. We will have our ribbon and bead yarns available as well as upcycled yarns in the form of our magic balls and the thick and thins also some chunky spun yarns. We will have our gift boxes available, some samples of how the yarns knit up and patterns to use with some of the yarns.

AFRICAN EXPRESSIONS
African Expressions was born from the desire for Africa to share her natural beauty with the rest of the world. Through our unique range of yarns we express the essence of that which makes Africa magical. Each colour represents one small element that makes Africa, Africa. Be Inspired will be stocking their stand with their popular imports – Scheepjes, Schoppel Zauberballs, new imported Dutch brand Durable Yarn, as well as local Cape Town brand Cowgirlblues. DYE HOUSE YARNS
On offer at the inaugural Cape Town Yarn Festival will be Sam’s hand dyed yarns on the following bases: Skinny Singles, a delectably squish-able lace weight yarn. Sock Twist, this 2 ply yarn has a gorgeous drape with great bounce. DK Twist, gently twisted 2 ply yarn for a soft, cosy Double Knit yarn. Merino / Linen Blend, this fingering weight yarn creates a unique textural combination that is silky soft to the touch, with a lovely light drape.

HARTLAM
Hartlam will be offering as range of indie-dyed yarns, consisting of both our Luxe and Lekker ranges. The “Luxe” range includes all Hartlam’s imported yarn bases, with blends of wool, cashmere, silk and alpaca fibres, while the “Lekker” range includes top quality locally sourced Merino yarns.

IDEAS MAGAZINE
The Ideas/Idees magazine has been planned and designed to be a part of readers’ ‘happy place’, an escape from day-to-day stresses, their DIY therapy and their mindful companion. Filled with pages they can frame, fold, colour in or use as they please in other creative projects, the magazine is also a go-to guide for practical advice and ideas, and easy-to-do makes and projects.

JAARN
After years in the yarn industry as firstly a crochet designer, then Brand Ambassador for Nurturing Fibres, the natural evolution of my yarn journey was to open a yarn store. Jaarn is an online yarn store, specializing in high quality hand-dyed and commercial yarns. We don’t stock anything that we don’t personally believe in, so you can be sure that you’re getting the best quality yarns and accessories available, coupled with exceptional service.

KNOTTY HABIT
The Knotty Habit table will have hand dyed yarn skeins, leather and wood accessories. The yarn skeins are Merino single lace, Merino single fingering, Merino sock weight, and Kid Mohair/Merino/Silk/polymide blend. Skeins are available as 100g and 50g. Knotty Habit also sells leather shawl cuffs, leather handmade labels, and handmade wood shawl pins.

MADE IN MANENBERG
Lydia Abel will have her beautiful book “Finding The Thread” – a story of South African yarn, upliftment and inspiration. Lydia will also have finished items from the empowerment project that she is involved with. “Made in Manenberg” knitters are all based in notorious ganland of Manenberg, Cape Town. This area is ravaged by poverty, crime and violence, but still, the community stands out for it’s activism and resilience despite the dangers they face daily. These knitters exemplify the “can do” attitude. Handmade 100% South African Yarn

MISS LA MOTTE
Miss La Motte will be offering a range of yarns at CTYF on silky, luxurious locally produced merino yarn. Bases will include a variety of squishy superwash treated merino ranging from Lace Singles (lace weight yarn), Singles (fingering weight yarn), Linum (merino with a hint of linen fibre), Twist Sock (plied fingering weight yarn), Double Knit (plied double knit) to a personal favourite – Lustre (a rich blend of merino, mulberry silk, kidsilk and nylon – a light fingering weight yarn). Loads of classic Miss La Motte colours plus some new-never-before-seen colourways will be available.

I hand select my yarns to ensure they are the best quality merino wool, mohair and cotton available. STELLAR FIBREWORKS
Stellar Fibreworks yarn and fibrecraft tools are made in Cape Town. I mostly dye superwash merino yarn. VINNI’S COLOURS
