Thank you for your kind messages of encouragement as we, with broken hearts have had to plan the cancellation of this year’s event.

It has been a learning curve for us. The main feeling that we have at this time is that we really value our community - even more than ever.

For those who purchased tickets:
Yes, there are many losses on our side, but we understand and appreciate that you purchased a ticket for an event that will not happen this year. We do not want you to lose out in any way, so we will be assisting you to receive a full refund. Please keep checking your emails for a message from Carlé explaining how to claim your refund.

As a thank you to those of you who bought tickets to JHBYF2020, we will add a little something to your parcel should you order something from the SA Yarn Festival Online 2020 that we will be hosting soon. (Info on this event will be launched as soon as the lockdown is lifted and we can make use of the couriers again.) AND, we will send you a discount coupon once the date for JHBYF2021 is confirmed and tickets are available for purchase!

You will master the following shawl shapes – Triangle, Crescent and Asymmetrical using different increase and decrease stitches. The workshop materials will include the understanding of the construction of each shape shawl. A mini shawl will be knitted in each shape explaining the formula for the shape and a basic pattern for making the shawl.

During this workshop we will START on the technique used in the Diamond Cammie pattern. A complete kit to finish this pattern, will be available separately, but during the workshop you can decide to use this technique to make any other item you prefer. The stitches covered are the Tunisian Simple Stitch and we will incorporate the Eyelet stitch to create the diamond pattern. We will also get familiar with using the join-as-you-go technique in Tunisian Crochet.

Learn to knit brioche in this no-fuss “Easy Cowl” workshop – we’ll knit the neckwarmer flat and join the ends when done. Tips, advice and trouble shooting will enable you to continue with it and finish it at home. Partially based on a free pattern by Stephen West (who has graciously given me permission to use it), this pattern can be used again and again to make a groovy long cowl, a scarf or a moebius/infinity wrap.
