African Expressions is a South African yarn brand based in Port Elizabeth. Offering 14 yarns each with their own unique twist, composition and colour palette. Whether you are a knitter, crocheter, weaver or hand dyer, there is a yarn within the African Expressions range which is sure to spark creative crafting joy.

Aldert Yarns
Aldert Yarns are expertly hand dyed in small batches in Parys, a beautiful town on the edge of the Vaal River. Colourways are inspired by cinema, food, literature and fantasy. Using only the finest fibres, all sourced locally from South African mills and farmers.

Annelie Unraveled
Annelie Unraveled is a Cape Town–based fibre artist specialising in small-batch hand-dyed fibre, expressive handmade roving tops, and thoughtfully curated spinning tools. Known for rich colour stories and softly textured spins, each piece is created slowly by hand, embracing individuality and the beauty of the imperfect.

Beth’Ani Hand Dyed Cotton
Beth’Ani Hand-Dyed Cotton Yarns is a South African, woman-led brand celebrating colour, fibre and community. With a curated range of premium cotton yarns in vibrant, timeless shades, Beth’Ani inspires creativity and connection – symbolised by it’s logo of two women linked by a single thread. Every yarn carries a story, and every project begins with inspiration.

Bezonder
Bezonder is the work of goldsmith and jewellery designer Johandi Ebersohn, who repurposes antique cutlery into meaningful, functional art. Forgotten pieces are transformed into yarn accessories, like darning needles, fibulae, cloak pins, seam rippers and stitch markers. There is also a small range of jewellery, celebrating sustainability, slow making and giving beautiful objects new life.

Blankets from Africa
Blankets from Africa began in the Karoo, a remote region of South Africa where unemployment is extremely high. Our mission is to create meaningful employment by transforming local wool and mohair into beautiful, slow-made products. Through skills training, we empower local women to knit, building confidence, independence, and pride in their craft. Each handcrafted piece carries a story of resilience, dignity, and hope — creating hope, one stitch at a time.

Cape Embroiderers’ Guild
The Cape Embroiderers’ Guild is proud to be celebrating their 42nd year in 2026. Our aim is to pursue the knowledge and promote the skill of embroidery. CEG meets once monthly, alternating on first Fridays and second Saturdays in Rondebosch. Visitors are welcome.

Cape Lace Guild
The Cape Lace Guild (est. 1982) exists to promote the beautiful craft of bobbin lace making in the Western Cape, South Africa.

Colours of Amalfi is primarily an online based store importing and stocking Tulip Crochet, knitting and other craft accessories as well as John Arbon Yarn. We have added Olympus Sashiko supplies and Sandnes Garn yarn to our range, to be launched at CTYF.

Cowgirlblues
At Cowgirlblues our team of 15 women produces high quality wool and mohair yarns for knitting, crochet and crafting. We aim to infuse every skein with our abundant South African sunshine, and to bring this lightness and joy to our knit kits and patterns also.

Daughters of Una
We are two sisters continuing our mum’s legacy of making after 23 years apart. Driven by a passion to reduce textile waste, we create bags and other textile pieces from repurposed fabrics, along with small weaving tools like flat looms, mini heddles and pin looms, while supporting local wherever possible.

Dreamspell Dyeworks
Dreamspell Dyeworks is a one-woman business, built off a passion for slow crafting and the magic of making. My aim is to create interesting, fun and beautiful colourways that will bring a little magic into the everyday life of anyone who works with my yarn. My yarns are sustainably farmed and mulesing free. They are soft and gorgeous to knit with, hand dyed in small batches by myself, in Langebaan, South Africa.

The Good Hope Quilters’ Guild is a welcoming, non-profit community that brings together quilters and affiliated groups from across the Western Cape to share, learn, and celebrate the art of quilting. Everyone is welcome at our quarterly meetings at Edgemead Community Centre, where you can connect with like-minded people, gain new skills, and find inspiration. Through workshops, retreats, and community projects, the guild offers a supportive space to grow your quilting while giving back and being part of something meaningful.

Janette Schelpe Designs
We are a small women owned and run, tapestry shoe company that has been empowering women for 5 years. Tapestry has been a passion for years and watching them collect dust or end up in landfill was heartbreaking. So we gather and upcycle them into two styles of bespoke shoes. We also offer a service of customising clients own tapestries.

Karoo Moon
Karoo Moon is a small farm-based wool business in the heart of the Karoo near Nieu Bethesda. We create hand dyed yarns, knitting and crochet kits and a few natural wool products. Inspired by the Karoo landscape and the versatility of wool, our products celebrate craftsmanship, sustainability and the simple beauty of natural fibres.

Knitted Together
Knitted Together is a community of women who came together to knit blankets for those in need during winter, and has since grown into a vibrant group centred on creativity, connection, and care. Our members, ranging from beginners to experienced makers, create handmade items for organisations like The Zoe Project, CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation and various local outreach initiatives. We’re passionate about giving back and are always grateful for donations of yarn, wool, or funds to help us continue making a meaningful difference.

LilyRose Dyeworks is a small indie dyer based in the deep south of Cape Town, on the False Bay coast. It is an area painted a thousand shades of blue by the sky and the sea ~ smudged with the dusty browns and greens of the indigenous fynbos.

We are Lynn and Jane Eppel, a mother–daughter team who share a love of textiles and creating together. Miss La Motte Yarns
Miss la Motte is an independent dyer based in Cape Town, South Africa, specialising in creating colour palettes mostly inspired by the South African landscape and flora. Locally sourced South African merino is used as a sumptuous base for creative explorations of colour and texture, offering a wide range of bases from which makers can choose from.

Mukuti Alpacas
In the mountains of Montagu in the Western Cape, a small herd of alpacas produces exceptional fiber. Their fleece is offered as raw wool, rovings for felting and spinning, as well as beautifully hand-spun yarns. Each step reflects careful husbandry, dedication and deep care for the animals.

Founded by Lily Turner in 2016, Wishbone Yarn is a one-woman operation based in the rugged beauty of South Africa’s Karoo region. Wooligalooli
Wooligalooli is a Limpopo based, small indie dye studio. We spin, ply and hand-dye 100% Merino wool. Our colour ranges are bespoke, as we dye in small batches, making each batch unique. We also sell handmade wool products such as beanies, scarves, throws and mittens. Together with The Crafty Geo we have patterns written specifically for our beautiful handspun wool.
